SUMMARY:Webinar series on ‘Integration of Soil Health in decision-making processes at various scales’ - SOILveR
DESCRIPTION:SOILveR\, plans to organize in 2025 a webinar series on the integration of Soil Health in decision-making processes at various scales. The stimulation of healthy soils\, soil health assessment as well as sustainable soil management will be tackled.\nThe assessment and management of Soil health in relation to the proposal for a European Soil Monitoring framework directive raises questions that we aim to address in this webinar series: \n• The availability of soil health data\,\n• Soil measurements to be taken\,\n• Scale of analysis and decision\,\n• Aggregate soil measurements and build an integrated soil health index\,\n• Available tools to assess soil health\,\n• Sustainable measures to preserve or restore soil health\,\n• Technical and legal constraints for soil management\, etc. \nBut also questions related to stakeholders’ engagement and transformation challenges: \n– How to raise awareness within your organization to put healthy soils on the agenda\nand make it part of management processes and procedures\,\n– How to create partnerships with landowners and land users\,\n– How to bridge healthy soils with societal challenges depending on healthy soils (greening cities\, climate adaptation\, food security\, healthy environment).\nThese questions will be investigated in three different contexts: (1) at a broad scale in relation to land planning and urban soil management\, (2) at the project scale within the specific context of brownfield recycling\, rural redevelopment and urban renewing\, and (3) at the site scale in the context of the management of a contaminated or degraded site.\nOn November 5th the first webinar will take place and SOILveR invites you to join in this meeting. The aim of this first webinar is to tackle the concept of Soil Health and set the scene in ‘SOILveR’ countries (France\, Belgium/Wallonia\, Netherlands\, Basque Country\, Sweden).

SUMMARY:Liljemark Consulting In situ day
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to Stockholm and In Situ day 2024 \nA seminar organized by Liljemark Consulting \nIn-situ day is a day where we meet to share experiences of in-situ remediation on contaminated sites\, listen to interesting presentations and learn more about when and how in-situ methods can be applied.\nWith this day\, we want to contribute to a better understanding of how sustainable remediation methods can be applied to contaminated sites. \nBuilding on the success of last year’s event\, we are excited to introduce a call for abstracts. \nFurther information will be available shortly.

SUMMARY:In situ PFAS remediation PlumeStop barrier - Regenesis
DESCRIPTION:In situ PFAS remediation in the snow: the application and validation results of a PlumeStop barrier installed at a Swedish airport \nDate: Wednesday\, 13th November\nTime: 12:00 GMT / 13:00 CET (please be aware of your time zone)\nLanguage: English\nPresenter:  Helena Nord (Sheeba Environmental Engineering A.B.) and Sarah Hughes (REGENESIS) \nIn this webinar\, guest speaker Helena Nord\, Technical Specialist Soil and Groundwater Remediation of Sheeba Environmental Engineering A.B. and Sarah Hughes\, REGENESIS District Manager for the UK and Scandinavia\, will discuss the site conditions\, application works and the latest validation from the in situ treatment of a PFAS plume in north-eastern Sweden.  \nResulting from the use of Aqueous Film Forming Foam (AFFF) on a fire training area at the edge of the airport\, a large PFAS plume was impacting the downgradient aquifer and surface water. A 70m-long PlumeStop barrier was installed in the forest by the fire training area to prevent further migration of the PFAS. This involved five injection rigs working in cold conditions for nine weeks.
