DESCRIPTION:A site with a mixture of contaminants which behaviour is not already well known\, can be challenging for a full-scale thermal soil restoration. Can we reach cleanup levels? Are there any unwanted by-products caused by the heating? Are there any safety issues with e.g. exothermic or autocatalytic reactions? Questions can be many. Use 30 min this Thermal Thursday to learn about a unique possibility to determine a heating profile\, treatment duration and predict clean-up results for the specific geology and contamination mix etc. We will walk you through the different tests we can do in the lab and in the field and give you some examples of our latest tests and the reasons to perform them.

SUMMARY:Sustainable Management of Contaminated Sediments: ongoing research in Sweden
DESCRIPTION:The National sediment network of governmental authorities SESAM\, in collaboration with Uppsala University\, invites you to a unique conference focusing on sustainable management of contaminated sediments. Take the opportunity to meet academic researchers and national governmental actors involved in the work with contaminated sediments in Sweden\, discuss recent findings\, ongoing projects and needs for the future\, both from an academic and governmental perspective! \nWe are welcoming contributions in a wide range of topics related to the sustainable management of contaminated sediments\, the assessment and characterization of the transport of various types of contaminants\, with a specific focus on Swedish issues. In an attempt to cover the most recent advances\, we have defined four suggestive main themes. Contributions outside these themes might also be accepted. \nConference thematic sessions: \n\nInnovative and sustainable remediation methods\nCircular economy: e.g. use of dredged sediments as a resource\nRisk assessment and monitoring of the spreading of contaminants\nFiberbanks: characterization and remediation.\n\nThe conference is organized by the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency and Uppsala University (VINNOVA project Renare sediment). Conference participation is free of charge with fika and lunch included.
